The Hell's Half Mile Film and Music Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! We are so lucky to have a high interest in arts and entertainment in our community. The festival lasts 4 days and the entire event is put on by volunteers and is a definite grass roots effort. It really shows how many people can come together for a good cause to bring diversity to our city.
My husband and I are really going all in this year for participation. Ferne Boutique is a sponsor of the festival and we are also going to be volunteering Friday and Saturday night. We wanted to do as much as possible to help out since the 10th year is going to be pretty awesome!
Some of the businesses downtown are also participating in a window display contest and the theme is "Celebrating Cinema." The displays are being judged on creativity, originality and connection to the store's merchandise. With the help of a few people, my window display idea is The Devil Wears Prada. I had such a great time putting it all together and borrowing some pieces from a few of my friends.
The window itself is designed to be the Runway Magazine cover. I put a few catchy titles related to Hell's Half Mile to tie that in to the festival.
Inside the window covering the floor are magazine pages that represent the latest styles and trends. I also included red heels and red boxes with Prada logos so people can guess what movie it is.
I am so glad I decided to participate in the contest! It was fun pulling it all together.
I invite you to attend the festival this weekend. There are some great films and music acts in the lineup. Visit hhmfest.com for tickets and lineup.
